Abstract Subjects

This will be a short article about an issue which I feel needs to be written about.

Years ago, in my first professional job, I wrote an article in the company newsletter called “How to be a guru?”. It was well received internationally as many found something related to it.

There are abstract subjects that are transcendental, intangible and notional. Religion, Law of Attraction and many more subjects fall into this category.

These are the subjects actually open to abuse in the wrong hands. They are open to interpretations, speculations, and manipulations.

Morning Routine Craze

Everybody is talking about the morning routine. Writing, offering courses about it. Numerous articles, books, podcasts, and videos published.

It’s nice to have routines. They allow us to do things more or less automatically and once established, help us form habits.

Can you really achieve the benefits which are being claimed for a morning routine? Here is an example:

Wake up early (6am or earlier)
Drink water (500 ml or more)
Focus on your agenda for 4 – 10 minutes
Exercise (can be a simple stretch to 20-60 min Qigong or another workout)
Cold shower (seems to have many benefits but will come to it later)
Meditate, Pray, Gratitude
Visualise your goals, write them down
Breakfast
Write a Journal

We all strive to better our lives. Increase our productivity, stick to our resolve, maintain our focus, manage our time (life) effectively and have a meaningful life.

Last week I read a few articles, watched videos. Summary of them may be helpful for many if the timing and psychology are right.

The Psychology of Time Management

Do you know what you are aiming for? What are you trying to achieve?

One of my first professional colleagues used to reply to everything I asked, “What are you trying to achieve by this?” and it would make us think twice before we asked him anything.

According to Brian Tracy here is how you can manage your time better.

Decide exactly what you want
Write it down in detail
Set a deadline to achieve it
Make a list of everything you need to do to achieve it
Organize the list into a plan
Take action on plan immediately
Do something every day to achieve it

Why Islamic Cults don’t like Ataturk?

In recent years, there are numerous insults, attacks on Ataturk in Turkey and surprisingly outside. People have no knowledge of Turkish history, very limited knowledge of Islamic religion, they haven’t read Ataturk’s book NUTUK, but they spread unfounded false accusations like a disease. My question is WHY? Why a man who died in 1938 bothers these people so much?

Are they not able to build mosques, pray freely, celebrate religious days? Are they not able to form religious groups (cults)?

A friend of mine Yilmaz Karahan summed up the distortion of Ataturk’s true value and personality in three types.

Western-minded capitalists: These people tried very hard to use Ataturk’s Republic, secularism, dressing code, industrialism etc. and looked down on real people in the rural areas, tried to bring in western culture and undermine Turkish culture. They hid behind Ataturk and through this process always had power and being part and parcel of one world order.
Revolutionary minded socialists: These people took Ataturk’s “Peace at home, peace in the world” as a mantra and made activities against Islam and Turks/Turkish culture. They used/manipulated true meaning of the removal of the Caliphate, the declaration of secularism, the closure of tekke and zaviye, the revolution, the struggle for independence against the imperialist states. They created the word “Kemalist” (comes from Mustafa Kemal Ataturk’s name) and tried to make Ataturk like a prophet, new religion. They tried to show Ataturk against Islam. They were insensitive and disrespectful towards national and spiritual values. With the mantra “The brotherhood of the peoples” they set the ground for separatism. They are active in the fields of press and art. Against capital (money), so-called warlords but they are only capitalist through trade unions and other organizations. They are also fed by bad links.
Prejudiced minded religious people: Organised by the enemy of Turks, worked in disguise (like Gulen movement) and abused pure, good intentions of Anatolian people who had true Iman. They distorted the collapse of Ottoman Empire, escape of Sultan, declaration of Turkish republic, change of alphabet etc. and declared Ataturk as deccal and against Islam.

Three kinds of LOVE

In the world there are three kinds of love. Even though we call them all “love” they are different in motive. The first kind of love comes with an “If”, it is conditional. If we meet certain expectations we receive “If” type of love. For instance: If you are a good boy/girl your teacher will love you. As my spouse, if you meet my expectations I will love you. If you are successful I will love you, etc. This kind of love sets pre-conditions in order to give love in return. It is a give-and-take type of love. Love is given only if certain conditions are met; therefore, this is a selfish, egotistical kind of love. The marriages built upon “If” kind of love are short-lived as it is hard to keep up with the expectations or whims of the other party. Goal setting for 2015

Unlike every year, this year I set no goals; have no list of New Year’s resolutions. Like most of us, I used set goals, have my new year’s resolutions just before the New Year and grand picture of what to achieve in the coming year. Write or update my goals / to do list to add new ones.

Even if I hadn’t had a new list, at least I had a soul search and have a few things in mind to incorporate in my personal and business life. Every new year’s eve or during this process I used to get sad for unachieved goals, the reasons which held me back etc. Also a year means I was getting older.

I read numerous articles, tried many different techniques, paper and software over the years and still do. The best time management philosophy so far is the TMI (Time Manager International). It suits my personality to break things down to smaller action items using the pine tree philosophy. Trunks (the trunk is you and the overall goals you have set yourself for your private and professional life), Branches (the branches are key areas – the main areas on which to concentrate your efforts in order to reach your goals), Twigs (the twigs are major tasks to be performed within each key area) and Pine Needles (the pine needles are all the practical activities and details that are necessary to complete each of your major tasks).
